I went to Shaw’s at lunchtime to get a cold drink, and got to talking with the cashier about what does and does not count as a meal in New Hampshire (because of the “prepared foods” tax.) We agreed it was a gray area and she gave the example that 6 or more donuts from their bakery counts as a meal. I laughed way too hard at this revelation - it assumes the person is planning on eating them all in one sitting, and also that they’re not sharing them among friends, coworkers, or family members. The word that came to mind was Kafkaesque!
